We’re in the market for a second travel trailer. This time, we want a small one; specifically, on that size that ensure I’ll be comfortable towing it on my future trips down to Yosemite National Park and up to Alaska. Because we aren’t in any hurry to buy it, we’ve been shopping for months to pick out the ideal trailer.
RVing
Let’s talk RV food storage!
In continuation of my previous post about home food storage, I’m going to now post about my RV pantry.
First of all, deciding what to keep in our RV pantry is challenging. We keep our RV on our site in a private campground, and it’s 30 minutes out through miles of working forest and along the curvy road following Hood Canal to the closest restaurants and/or grocery stores. Luckily, I have a huge pantry in my rear kitchen, so I have plenty of room with which to organize. But WHAT in the world do I keep in it?
When plans change quickly
In my last post, I talked about the plan to trade in my Mustang in November to buy a 2020 4Runner and how I never intended to own a truck capable of towing our nearly 8,000 pound trailer.

The evolution of camping (for us)
We have now had this beautiful campsite for a year. In that time, we’ve had a crash-course in camping. We’ve learned how to deal with full tanks, refilling of water and propane, and all the other basics of camping.
We also learned that, while we adored camping, our motorhome was the wrong rig for us, so we traded her in for our our current travel trailer.
And as much as we love camping and intend to keep camping here, we’re planning phase two of our camping adventures.
A tour of our new travel trailer!
Well… we traded in our 2005 Winnebago Aspect after just 13 months. With engine troubles constantly plaguing us and not enough space for me, the hubby, and our huge dog, we decided we’d had enough. Last week we took possession of our brand new 2018 Forest River Salem 25RKS travel trailer with a rear kitchen. It’s 29 feet long from tongue to bumper, but the camper box itself is 25 feet long. I’m in love!
The Music of the Forest
I wake up in the woods.
Well – for complete disclosure – I wake up in a motorhome parked in the woods. But still… I wake to the sound of chirping birds and absolutely nothing else.
Complete and total silence.
Welcome to Camp Echo Hill!
When we bought our Winnebago last fall, we obviously had plans to camp. But… where? Continue reading
