Twenty seven years ago, I fell in love. It was hard. It was swift. It was… polyamorous. Continue reading

Fangirl Corner: have I ever introduced you to my celebrity boyfriends?
I like to believe that, as a writer, it is my duty to notice and appreciate attractive men. After all, I can study what makes them tick and what makes them stand out and then allow them to find their way into the fictitious worlds I weave. I am also an admitted fangirl, and when I love something, I love it hard. Completely and thoroughly. I don’t do anything halfway. Put up or shut up is my motto. Go hard or go home. This attitude and way of living life means that, in the case of my many celebrity boyfriends, I love them dearly. So let me introduce you to the men in my life.
Midwives and churches and stuff (an update)
I’ve meant to start blogging more regularly in the new year, but life often gets in the way of plans and that’s definitely the case here. Sometimes, I have to choose between getting some extra sleep or blogging and, well, there’s not really a choice to make!
A night of Bluegrass
So ever since I heard “Country Boy” by Ricky Skaggs when I was just a kid, I’ve loved Bluegrass. My dad loved to listen to the Grand Ole Opry on Saturday nights, even though it came through sounding scratchy and so far away on his old radio. He loved Bill Monroe and I remember sitting with him as we listened, watching his foot tap along to the beat.
I just love Bluegrass. Continue reading
I’m so behind! (A foray into television talk)
Ever since I started working the night shift, I cannot stay caught up with TV shows. That’s honestly okay since I’ve never been a TV addict. I’ve never been one to spend hours and hours in front of a TV each week with tons of shows to watch, but I did have a few shows that I enjoyed. Due to my schedule, I’ve abandoned almost all of them in favor of books, which don’t air at a specific time and don’t require a weekly investment in order to see the conclusion of a story. But… I do love some shows and I need to get caught up, at least on these:
A tale of a girl and her car
Once upon a time, in a magical land called Madison, there lived a young girl. Her name was Rachel, and she was a determined, self-reliant girl, even as a child. When she was 18 years old, she worked as a night auditor at a Holiday Inn Express. Each and every night, after she’d processed her paperwork and had some free time, she’d wander into the pool room and stare out the glass windows at the Ford dealership that sat right behind the hotel. There, right beneath the powerful spotlights, was a row of four shiny, brand new 1997 Mustangs. Rachel had her eye on the silver one. It shimmered in the glaring lights, its sleek curves calling to her like the lilting melody of a siren’s song.
Wednesday update
I’ve been very sad all week. Coupled with what was already going on in my life, the death of Cory Monteith just really made my weak heart break.
Fangirl Corner
In this edition of Fangirl Corner:
I have many obsessions currently (Bomb Girls, reading romances about badass bikers (thanks, Jaci Burton), etc.) One of my long-standing and most passionate obsessions is for Jensen Ackles. He acts (fantastically). He’s humble and hilarious. He has a heart of gold. He’s gorrrrrrrrrrrgeous.
And he sings. And plays guitar.
*swoons*
Anyway, this song and video were released yesterday. It’s on constant repeat, and not just because he’s so pretty. *pets him*
The man can sing.
