We are officially homeowners for the first time in our lives, and after almost ten years of marriage! We closed on our lovely little house in Port Orchard, Washington on 10/27, took possession the next day, and moved in Thursday.

Our new town! When we’re standing in our driveway, we can hear the seals barking down on the waterfront (of Sinclair Inlet, which is part of Puget Sound), which is about a 1/2 mile away.
Moving day! Here’s the moving truck pulled up to our rental house, ready to get us out of there!

Goodbye, Kent/Covington area!
Since the moving truck pulled away from our new home, we’ve been unpacking and trying to figure out where things go. We were renting a 1740 sq. ft. tri-level home in Kent, and our new home is 1258 sq. ft., so we’re squeezing things in. But we have a detached two-car garage with a huge workshop out back, so we’re putting a lot of things back there.
Dear readers (if there are any of you left), let me introduce you to my home. It was built in 1923 and sits on a quarter-acre corner lot. For the last ten years, it was inhabited by an artist and gardener who took loving care of this home. As a result, we now own this sweet, almost cottage-like home.

Standing at the front of the living room, looking toward the dining room and kitchen. Master suite is to the left, guest rooms and office are to the right.

Looking from the dining room into the living room.

This will be the guest bedroom, and the built-ins make me weak in the knees.

This is the guest bathroom, with its vintage wallpaper and beautiful bead board.

The sink and bottom of the vintage mirror in the guest bathroom.

This is the back bedroom, which will be used as a shared office space.

I love these cut-outs. These are in the dining room and the guest bathroom is directly ahead. Office to the left, guest bedroom to the right.

Dining room with door leading to the deck (which will be completely revamped next spring.) Half-wall separates dining room from kitchen.

Master bedroom. Master closet door is visible and master bath door is barely visible at the edge of picture.

Chandelier and bump-out in master bedroom.
And now, for my favorite room in the house and 75% of the reason that I fell head over heels in love with this home – the kitchen.

The double-oven, 40″ electric stove and farmhouse sink – both of which make my heat flutter.

The open shelving – all my pretty dishes will go there!

The opposite wall of the kitchen, with the door to the utility room and all of my cabinets.

Fridge and food pantry. The shelves in the bottom half slide-out for easy access!

Pink inside the cabinets!

The back of the house to the right, with the utility room door. To the left is the workshop, which is attached to the garage.
Our internet was installed yesterday so I am now reconnected to the world. More pictures to come as the house morphs, changes, and is decorated with my antiques!
Welcome to the neighborhood!! Hope you like it here. 😀 Your new home is super adorable!
You’re in Port Orchard? Awesome! We love it here!!!
I am! We have been here about four years. It has got its things, of course, but it is still a good little town.
Living in King County is insanity, so I will take what Kitsap throws at me!
Kitsap is truly lovely. I love this side of the Sound a lot more! I cross the Narrows and I am in an instant better mood 🙂
So happy for you and praying for blessings in your new neighborhood. Watch out for that deck, don’t slip, it looks slippery!
That deck is slicker than snot! It’s being pulled out and totally replaced next May!
Also don’t walk into the chandelier and break it!!! Put a table underneath!
How fun! Happy homemaking!
Very nice! I can’t wait to see it when you’re moved in…
