Spring T.E.A. time!

This past Saturday, the Women’s Fellowship of our church held its annual Spring Tea.  The hosts this year were yours truly and my pal, Brenda, who came down with food poisoning the morning of the event and couldn’t join us, so I was on my own.  The great thing, though, is that I wasn’t really on my own because I had so many wonderful women to help me!

We called it the Spring T.E.A. because we planned so much more than just sitting around and drinking tea.  The letters stood for Together, Eat, Action.

First, myself and 43 other ladies/girls gathered together in decorated Fellowship Hall to talk and eat.

Then, I gave the devotion I had written, which was about Brethrens through history that truly put their faith into action. And then, the Action part took place. I divided $100 in $5 bills between the four tables of guests and challenged the women to go out into our community and bless people with that money.  It wasn’t about proselytizing or trying to boost our church membership – the goal was to simply brighten someone’s day.

The women left and went out, dispersing the money, and then they came back and talked about what they did while we had dessert.

They blessed people on the streets, at stores, gave to charity car washes that were going on – a lot of goodwill went out into the community of Covington that day!

I’m so happy with the way things went, especially that the ladies seemed to have a really good time.  It was a great afternoon of Christian sisterhood and giving back, which is what living a life of faith is supposed to be about anyway!

Fabric flowers, which I gave to the ladies at the end of the day because I sure never want to see them again. Nearly burnt my fingerprints off with hot glue making them!
